If you get a chance, check out Sita Sings the Blues.  It's an animated story of ...well, it's complicated.  It's two stories in one, and it's beautiful.  Sita is a goddess.  Nina is a shadow-puppeteer. They are both having some problems with their respective spouses.  You can watch the whole thing here, and it's going to air on PBS at some point.
